after all, they are my pillar of life!
It’s Monday. Somehow my mind is blank. Since the start of this semester, I am even more stressed out than last sem. Now I cannot even focus on playing a set of beats on the cajon. Many times I want to just sleep my way through, but somehow I can’t do it. I guess I can blame no one except myself for landing myself in this pathetic state.
Every single monday will be a start of hell that I want my days to pass asap, so I can just trash it out in my room at late night. Well last saturday night was the best night ever, I simply slept without having any thoughts in my mind. That kind of peace made me wanna continue sleeping and never wake up till I’m done sleeping.
How I wish I can sleep like this every day, think that’s gonna make my life simpler.
I, WEI JIE, entered CHC as a CCH member at age 10.
2007, i attended my first candlelight service, sitting at Echo Arena 1. I didn’t know what Candlelight was, i only know the candles were really nice and doesn’t melt that fast.
BUT, i know GOD, at that time, as my provider, Jehovah Jireh.
LAST year, I knew him as my provider again, but this time, more. i saw him as a healer, the Lord of peace, a Shepard, but of course, right in Expo, i saw him as a covenant-keeping God, a God that will keep his covenant to his people, up to this day.
A lot of memories have been in expo. from the first time I served in usher, i was still wearing this paper tag, and I kept serving Charlie. well, you must finish what you start. I started my Expo as a Charlie usher, now I’m finishing my Expo leg of the race at Charlie, and to move on the temporarily assigned 6 JW services. after that, I’m saying “hi” to Suntec!
HAVING grown so much in UM, I spent most of my time in Jurong, but i can effectively apply my skills from JW to Expo. Every time i serve at Expo, this sudden surge of excitement comes to me. EXPO!!! I don’t have much chance of serving there and i still can remember EMERGE ‘07 and AC “08! Too sad i missed AC ‘10…
EXPO has lots of things to explore. the washrooms, the conference rooms at the back hall 8, the ones nearer to the auditorium goes to nursery, and the rest near the carpark goes to CCH, thats where its the busiest apart from the main service and attributes. I have never Expo Artistes’ Rooms and the Guest Rooms!
AS CHC and I move on, we have to say good bye to Expo… and 3 weeks after we do that, we will have our inaugural service at SUNTEC!!! more rooms, more places to walk, and of course, MORE FOOD!!!
I am so glad that I can be part of the combined UM-JW/EXPO for the last time, and we will be serving in jurong in our new suntec groups next week.
THIS is my account, my testimony of how Expo changed my life in my first periods as a Christian.
How time files. 4 years gone. we are coming to an end of Secondary Education. many memories cherished. To the first friend(s) I talked to, Wei Hao and Ming Lun, thank you for all that you’ve done and to Wei Hao, Xenia, Hui Li, Zanna, all the gatherings during recess, maybe we can do that when we come back next year! :) To Eugene, Gibson and gang, right now i really missed you guys calling me wavelength… To GM, I think you’ve with me the longest during the O level period, no more monopoly? To Syahkeer, your shouts to the teachers (you know, the hurling of ‘insults’) are one of the most memorable in my secondary life. To Xiuming, you’ve helped me out sometimes during class, but you are one great person. To Amber, Adam, Yanghorng, Shiwei, 1 thing i miss is that you guys doing your stuff at the DT Camp. Oh ya, the Architecture failure~~ To ZhuangHao, 4 years in the same class, don’t forget me that fast! to the rest of 4E5, I think it is destiny for us to be in the same class. To Mr Loy, Thank you for guiding me in the DT coursework. To my Chinese teachers, you guys are the masterminds behind my B3. Also, to my FTs, and Mr Sam Soo, your guidance is one most treasured. And to other teachers, I think ‘thank you’ is not enough for years of teaching…
Anyway, time files, but memories remain. Many are treasured, deeply.
for some students who think study break is to play all day, you are TOTALLY wrong.
Well, it’s good to play sometimes, but not all day. a few minutes of rest after hours of studying is not bad though, miracles can still happen in thses 8 days. If you are driving a toyota, time to change to a BMW or some good cars for the best performance! So much miracles have happened throughout history, it’s time to make your own! Put those ‘A’s into the drawer and get it done and over with!
P.S: not motivated to study? just remember, do it for the sake of the 300 over dollars!
Let’s see… emmm… June 7, only 3 months, not bad…, I’m Back!
So much things have happened. My prelims were not bad, although my EL marks were moderated, mostly B3s & B4s. Not bad, seriously. time flies, my 30-day countdown starts today. And was innocently called up to the VP’s office, ya. Time to unleash my true potential!
THIS is City Harvest Church. And it’s got lots of things to talk about! I will tell you why…
THIS IS OF NO PARTICLUAR ORDER:
#1—> Dynamic Music!
Since CCH(Children’s Church), I’ve been exposed to a totally new church environment, not like what i have seen in movies. CHC has shown me that churches can also introduce contemporary music, effectively increasing the atmosphere.
#2—> Architecture
Notice the Rivera side. The 3 big chunks of metal are actually Titanium which blocks the car park ramps leading to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Also, I have never imagined a church with 8 elevators despite its size! In my point of view, the Building itself has revealed the Cultural Mandate, combining the traditional Cross with Modern architecture.
#3—> CHC Ministries
Spanning more than 30 ministries, CHC is effectively equipped for weekly services. I’m in UM(usher), I have been starting out from making bulletins to preparing CNW elements, stacking chairs in Expo to JW(when W319 was transferred to JW in early 08, i think), also moving Chairs to exit stairs i B4 to moving them to B1(when SCDF warned us of obstruction of emergency exits), from taking a zone to leading one! CHC Ministries has allowed individuals to nurture their own God-given gifts!
#4—> The people in CHC!
These caring people always look out for each other, regardless whether they have known each other or not. This has taught me what does it mean to be caring. Also, i met alot of friends in CHC, which brings me to the next point:
#5—> My CG!
Joined W319 in 2007. Been in W319 until recently, when W319 multiplied. Had many good memories in the CG. Nevertheless, these memories are still etched in my heart. Many people looked out for me. I owed them alot. We went through thick and thin together. Now that I’m in W542, I really pray that I can contribute something to the CG.
#6—> Thick atmosphere of the Spirit
The spiritual atmosphere has led me to a decision that I am staying here to worship. Nothing will make me leave this great family and this Spiritual atmosphere. I also saw miracles happening in my life! THIS is one big, united, and spirit-hungry family!
#7—> UNITY
The Bible tells us that when 2 or more people come together in the name of Jesus, whatever we ask for, it will be done. Also, a place of agreement is a place of power! Church is just like a nation. Unity is what it takes to move through the storms, but prayer makes it harder for the devil to rebut!
#7—> The place where i Lost something and something else…
Yup. I lost something and gained something else in return. I lost bad things and was exchanged for something else even better! And that is Jesus! CHC was the exact place where i experienced God during CCH, saw its first X’mas service in ‘06. This is also the place where I am baptized in the holy spirit. Lots of my firsts. Really gained a lot here.
#8—> Pst Kong’s sermons!
They were very impacting. The sermons on the Sermon on the Mount, the 2 beams of the cross, and the Great Commandment, Great Commission and the Cultural Mandate! Others include the stories on Job has changed me a lot. Pastor’s sermons are also applicable in our daily lives! Amen!
#9—> LONGGGGGGG QUEUES!!!
Long queues. Both in JW and Expo. Why? All for the word of God! I’ve been an usher and have seen all kinds of queues. The worst i seen was AC 2008, when a lady insisted on going in when told her that Hall 8 is full. So a security personnel came over to help me out, and gave her chocolates! But guess what this lady said. She Replied angrily ,” 我不要吃chocolate!我要看 service!”
#10—> Feelin’ the presence of God
I felt a strong presence of the spirit coming down into the main hall. A feeling that cannot be felt elsewhere. This was what kept me moving.
After all, this is CHC. WE are UNITED. WE are a whole body of CHRIST. WE are INTER-DEPENDENT. The body of christ cannot function properly with the absence of someone, or something. EVERYONE is IMPORTANT to CHC! WE are CITY HARVESTERS! We are called to be a HARVEST to our city-state! We show the world what we are made from, and will emerge STRONGER, for here comes the Reign! Let Glory fill through this family!
This is it. The day has come. Tomorrow, 31/5/10, 0830. One paper down, lots more to go. The pressure that is building up inside of me has suddenly disappeared. Will it come again tomorrow?
Well, intensive MT is over, and it’s down to God and myself. Pray that i will be able to achive a B3 or A2…

Finally, to all O level Candidates out there, Good Luck and God bless you!

Dr Goh, a man who held 3 big portfolios during his course of his political career. Minister for Finance, he spearheaded the JIE (Jurong Industrial Estate), the JTC Corp, and also the man for the Singapore Dollar. As the Minister for the Interior and Defense, now MinDEF, the built up the SAF from scratch with the conscription policy due to the island’s small population. Now, the SAF is one of the most technological advanced forces in the region, from 1SIR and 2SIR to the SAF we know today. And as Minister for Education, he reformed the education system according to the Goh’s report, introducing streaming, all these to reduce dropouts.
Apart from all these, the Jurong Bird Park and the Singapore Zoo was his creation. Sentosa became a resort island all thanks to him.
After writing this article, I really felt that Singapore is now what it is all thanks to him. Finally, I would like to salute Dr Goh for all that he has done. Singapore has felt his imprint.
NEVER underestimate the power of sleep.
one must know when to sleep and when not to.
But when I see the 5 passages, and accompanied with the short table, i had to sleep.
And when i woke up, there was only 45 min left to complete 10 qns worth 40 marks!Darn! i had to pray hard just to ask god to ‘slow’ the time down. (it would be better if we can start the Exam at GMT +7 [i hr ahead s’pore]). fortunately, i finished the paper on time, wondering what the passage was talking about.
